Plans for old Coleraine abattoir get go-ahead
PLANS to turn an old abattoir in Coleraine into a residential area have been given the go-ahead by Planners.
The original application, by Mr F Dillon, for the old abattoir at Newmills Road, was refused as it failed to provide a quality residential environment and would result in a loss of land which was zoned for industry in the Northern Area Plan.
However at Tuesday's meeting of Coleraine Borough Council's Planning Committee, members were told that an office meeting was held to discuss the application.
As a result the site has been reduced to exclude the land zoned land.
Planning representative Paul Duffy told members: "The Department has now changed its opinion and has approved the application."
This was agreed unanimously by members.
