Salvation Army welcomes new Captain Tracey

THE Salvation Army in Coleraine has given a warm welcome to their new minister, Captain Tracey Godfrey.

By Vicky Lamont

Captain Tracey will have a joint ministry in charge of Coleraine and Ballymoney Salvation Army churches.

"It's lovely to be ministering back home and close to family," Captain Tracey told the Times this week.

"I'm looking forward to raising the profile of The Salvation Army in Coleraine and Ballymoney and to working together as a band of God's people, striving to serve the communities in which we are called to serve and seeing men, women and young children come to know Jesus as Lord."

"I believe God has much for The Salvation Army to do, though we need to be obedient and take up our Cross daily and follow Him. I believe the best is yet to be, and that God is going to use each one of us in more ways than we could ever imagine."

Captain Tracey is originally from Dundonald and joined The Salvation Army at the age of 13.

She has been a Salvation Army Officer and fully ordained minister for more than six years.

Her previous postions have included serving in Shotts Salvation Army Church in East Scotland and as chaplain in a social service centre for men who have found themselves homeless and at a centre for those with learning difficulties.

Local people are invited to The Salvation Army's Sunday services - Prayers,10:30am, Meeting,11:30am. Bible Study, 12:30pm,.

An Over 60's Club is also held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 3:00pm, at the hall, 152 Ballycastle Road.
