Santa Claus is coming to town!

THE Cystic Fibrosis Trust is calling on local people to get in the mood for the festive season, get out in the fresh air and support a good cause by taking part in the Santa Fun Run and Stroll along Portstewart Strand on Saturday 1 December.

The event is sponsored by Domino’s Pizza, Coleraine.

The fun starts at 12pm and Santas will run, jog or walk six kilometres along the beautiful beach, some even bringing their canine friends to join in the fun!

Participants of any age are welcome, although children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is £6 for adults or £3 for children and senior citizens and we ask each Santa to raise as much in sponsorship money as they can. All those who register receive a free Santa suit and a Santa finishers medal, although you can add your own accessories or wear your own outfit, and there are prizes for the best dressed Santas and teams.

Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK’s most common, life-threatening inherited diseases affecting over 350 people in Northern Ireland. Each week five babies are born with the illness and two young lives are lost. It is caused by a defective gene that clogs the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, with thick sticky mucus resulting in chronic infections and inflammation in the lungs and difficulty digesting food.

Joggy Dhillion, franchisee of Domino’s Pizza, is delighted to once again be supporting the Santa Run at Portstewart Strand and said: “We look forward every year to the CF Trust Santa Run as it gets our seasonal festivities started and gets everyone in the mood for Christmas. We ask all our customers to come and support this fabulous event and in doing so help raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.”

All money raised from the Santa Fun Run and Stroll will fund medical research to fight the symptoms of, and treat the cause of Cystic Fibrosis, as well as providing direct support for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.

You can register at The Diamond Centre on 16th November and any day from the 26th to 29th November , online at www.cftrust.org.uk or contact Linda Alexander, Regional Fundraising Manager for Northern Ireland on 0300 373 1021 or lalexander@cftrust.org.uk . Late registrations are also accepted from 11am on the day of the Santa Run at Portstewart Strand.
