Coleraine Borough Council has announced a major expansion programme for the Causeway Speciality Market.
Thanks to funding through Invest Northern Ireland of over £108,000, a programme will prepare 30 local food and craft producers to bring their products to the public through the market.
The market is held on the second Saturday of every month from 9am to 2.30 and offers shoppers a wonderful array of superb local foods and crafts.
The project will also see an enhanced stall area and refridgeration facilities.
DUP councillor Sam Cole welcomed the programme and described the market as a ‘success story’.
UUP councillor David Holmes also welcomed the programme and asked for more detail. Richard Baker, Council’s Corporate Director of Leisure and Development told the meeting that the programme centres on develoment, he added that ten new stalls and equipment would be included.
The Mayor,councillor David Harding was in favour of the project, he said: “We’ve some of the best local producers here on our doorstep.”
