FRED McClenaghan was yesterday (Tuesday) found guilty of murdering Coleraine mother of four Marion Millican.

The jury took just over an hour to find Mrs Millican’s former lover guilty of her murder.

Mrs Millican was shot in her workplace, alaunderette in Portstewart last March.

McClenaghan, 49, from Broad Street in Magherafelt, had claimed that he accidentally shot Mrs Millican while attempting to kill himself in front of her.

Yesterday, Judge Corinne Philpott told McClenaghan he would have to serve a life sentence. Judge Philpott said she would tell him exactly how long he would spend behind bars at a tariff hearing in September.
