The staff and pupils of Ballyhackett Primary School said a special thank you to school caretaker Bernie O’Hara recently as she marked 30 years in her vital role at the Castlerock school.
Bernie became caretaker of Ballyhackett Primary School on March 1, 1984 has been an integral part of the school ever since.
Bernie is a dedicated and committed caretaker, who is extremely loyal to Ballyhackett Primary School.
She has been a great ambassador for the school over the years, and it is obvious to anyone who talks to Bernie that she is very proud to be associated with the school.
Bernie sees her duties as not just confined to looking after the building, but taking care of the pupils and staff of the school. She always has gone beyond her call of duty to ensure that everyone feels at home at Ballyhackett. Her hospitality to visitors has been recognised by many over the years. Mr Moran, who became principal of the school in January, spoke very warmly about Bernie and her dedication to Ballyhackett Primary School.
He thanked her for all her hard work over the past thirty years. He recognised her support of everyone in the school and hoped that she would be caretaker for many more years.
