DUP MLA Maurice Bradley has called on police to step up patrols in the Circular Road area of Coleraine following damage to vehicles at the weekend.

Five cars had wing mirrors damaged in the incident in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mr Bradley said: “I understand that home owners in the area are having issues with young people loitering late in the night.

“I have asked police to step up patrols in this area, but I would remind parents that they have a responsibility to make sure they know where their children are, and what they are doing.

“The actions of those responsible could have serious repercussions, leading to a court appearance and a criminal record.”

A police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating several reports of damaged car wing mirrors in the Circular Road area of Coleraine.

“The damage is believed to have happened sometime during Friday night/early hours of Saturday.

“Anyone with information about those responsible is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
