Morelli’s Ice Cream has announced a three year sponsorship of Portrush Heritage Group’s summer Pirate Festival and Medieval Fair which is being held on July 2-3.

Arnaldo Morelli said thatMorelli’s are committed to supporting family fun events along the North Coast.

“We have been involved with the Raft Race over the past three years and have been watching with interest the development of Pirates from a very popular day-out to what this year will be a major two day children’s festival.

“We are delighted to be associated with the event which this year see’s Pirates, Vikings, Medieval Knights all walking the streets of Portrush.”

John Mc Nally, Chairman of Portrush Heritage Group, stated that the organisers were delighted to welcome Morelli’s as lead sponsor for the hugely popular event.

“Pirates is a partnership between local business owners and Causeway Coast and Glens Council.

“Portrush traders have supported this event which brings family fun entertainment onto the streets of the town.

“Morelli’s commitment over the next three years is a huge boost to the event and will help to guarantee its continuation as a free family fun-weekend.

“This year’s adventure of the intrepid Pirate Off Portrush “Tavish Dhu” lands him in trouble when he runs-across the Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley.

“There will be a treasure hunt, dance, drama, pursuit around town, a sword fight and a watery end for someone. On the sunday there will be a chance to explore and participate in a whole range of events when Antrim Gardens is transposed into a Heritage Park with a Medieval Village. There will also be a Viking Camp, Medieval Knights in armour, Jacobean soldiers with cannon and musket firing, have-a-go archery and Game Of Thrones style Throne and much more.”
