DETECTIVES in Coleraine are advising local business people, staff and members of the public to be vigilant following a recent scam involving a £50 note.

Police have received three reports in the Castlerock, Articlave and Bushmills areas where a man enters commercial premises to purchases items with a single £50 note or asks to have the note changed.

He then distracts the member of staff and eventually leaves the premises with change and the original note.

Anyone who has been affected or who has any information about this or any similar scam should contact detectives on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
