AN officer with the Duke of York Sea Cadets in Portush has received the Cadet Forces Medal and bar, awarded to recognise eighteen years of dedicated and efficient voluntary service in the UK Cadet Force.

Lieutenant (SCC) David Philpot RMR, received his medal and bar from Area Officer, Northern Area Sea Cadets, Captain Peter Adams, Royal Navy (Retired) , Area Officer, Northern Area, Sea Cadets.

He commended Lieutenant Philpot for his unstinting commitment to young people in his local community.

The Sea Cadets Corps in Portrush is extremely lucky to have such excellent leadership – and I know the cadets are hugely appreciative.

“I congratulate Lieutenant David Philpot on the hard work and commitment which has led to this award of the Cadet Forces Medal and bar, a sentiment which I know will be echoed by his local community. I hope that this success will inspire others to follow his lead for the doors are always open both to welcome potential volunteer Adult Instructors and equip them for the role and also to bring along new young people to join Sea Cadets.”
