THE borough’s main Remembrance Sunday commemoration this year will be held in Portrush.

The Deputy Mayor of Coleraine, councillor Mark Fielding, will represent Coleraine Borough Council at the service.

On Sunday, wreaths will be laid by Councillor George Duddy at Portstewart, Councillor Sam Cole in Kilrea, Councillor Adrian McQuillan in Garvagh, Councillor Richard Holmes in Aghadowey, and Councillor William King in Castlerock. The latter service will be held at 1.45pm at the War Memorial.

In Articlave, the parade will assemble at Articlave Orange Hall at 2.30pm for the 3pm service at Dunboe Presbyterian Church.

The mayor, Councillor David Harding, will attend the Coleraine ceremony.

Mayor Harding has urged the public to get behind this year’s Poppy Appeal.

“The annual Poppy Appeal is a very significant time in our calendar,” he said.

“It is an opportunity to reflect on those brave people who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us. I would ask that residents of this Borough continue to give their support and get behind this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Poppy wreaths can be collected from Coleraine Royal British Legion each day from 11am to 4pm until Saturday, November 9.
