Riverfest 2011 - free family fun

BOATING on the River Bann to promote this year’s Waterways Ireland Riverfest, was Mayor of Coleraine, Alderman Maurice Bradley with the next future star of barefoot waterskiing, 13-year-old Caite Skelly.

The event will be held in Christie Park Coleraine during 2nd and 3rd July, sponsored by Waterways Ireland.

Nuala Reilly, Marketing Assistant for Waterways Ireland met both Mayor Bradley and Caite to talk about the Riverfest programme and see how the next rising stars will be both competing and taking part in the weekend event.

The Waterways Ireland Riverfest is back for the fifth year and has continued to grow, becoming one of the biggest FREE family orientated events in Northern Ireland. Organised by Rob Skelly of The Edge Watersports, Riverfest is sponsored by Waterways Ireland, Coleraine Borough Council and Yamaha Motor UK.

Starting on Saturday 2nd July at 12:45pm with Rowing Sprints between Bann Rowing Club and La Roche-sur-Yon, France, (Coleraine’s twin town), the international visiting team taking part as part of Coleraine’s 30th Twinning Celebrations between the two towns.
