The Rotary Club of Coleraine recently presented cheques to support and provide funding to two local charity organisations on the north coast.

The Super 6 Club, Causeway Paralympic After School Club was presented with a cheque for £1,000.

The money will go towards the purchase of sport wheelchairs for the children – aged 4 years to 18 years – who live in the Ballymoney and Ballycastle areas.

Each week the children participate in a variety of sports that include table tennis, boccia, wheelchair basketball, uni-hockey, indoor golf and even dodgeball. It has been a great opportunity for them to socialise with each other, as well as take part in sport.

The Coleraine Cougars Special Olympics Club was presented with a cheque for £500.

It offers children and adults with an intellectual disability the opportunity to train and compete in basketball.

They recently won the Special Olympics Ulster Division 2 and the Under-15 League titles.

They also finished runners-up in Division 3, and gained two gold, three silver, two bronzemeda;s and two placement ribbons during the Special Olympics individual skills.

Rotary Club of Coleraine provided the donation with match funding from Rotary Ireland.

The Rotary Club of Coleraine meets every Tuesday at the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine.
