SPORTS Minister, Carál Ní Chuilín has congratulated Coleraine’s three medal-winning Olympians.
Praising brothers Richard and Peter Chambers for winning silver in the lightweight men’s four rowing.
The Minister said: “To reach the final of the Olympics is an amazing achievement, one I am sure the team are rightly proud of. “To take a silver medal in a global competition like the Olympics is no mean feat. I am sure their success will help to inspire and encourage local rowers.
“I have been following their progress throughout the competition; hopefully this is the start of our local athlete’s accomplishments.”
The Minister also congratulated Alan Campbell on his bronze medal in the final of the single sculls.
“This was a terrific effort by Alan Campbell and a medal he truly deserves after another exciting, tense and hard fought final. I offer him my warmest congratulations.
“Along with the Chambers brothers, Alan joins the ranks of our local medal winning Olympians who have worked hard for their success.
“Their achievements will never be forgotten and I thank them for the joy and inspiration they have given all of us through these games over the last number of days.”
