The words ‘fun’ and ‘Maths’ aren’t usually used in the same sentence, but for a group of eager year eight pupils of St.Joseph’s College ‘fun’ was definitely at the centre of a special project last week.

The pupils had a unique opportunity to take part in this enterprising approach to learning, developed by Catherine Hutchinson and her “It’s 4 U programme”.

Teams worked together to complete a series of fun games and challenges within a time frame.

One pupil was even heard to say “ this is better than my X box”

While St.Joseph’s is proud of the level of educational attainment within the school, every effort is made to further develop and enhance learning in a variety of ways.

This activity was organised by the school’s Education Community Development worker whose role in the school is made possible through support from NEELB and funding from the DSD.
