A COLERAINE councillor has called for action to be taken against motorists who park all day in the Strand Road car park to avoid paying charges in the Waterside.
Cllr William King spoke out against the all-day parkers who, he says, are depriving those who want to walk along the river of parking spaces.
“The car park at Strand Road was designed for people who want to walk along the river,” said Cllr King at Tuesday’s meeting of Coleraine Borough Council.
“Now it is just being flooded with the cars of workers who are staying there all day to avoid paying in the Waterside car park.
“Some days you just can’t get parked on Strand Road if you walk to go for a walk along the river.
“This is getting serious and something has to be done about it.”
Chief Executive of Coleraine Borough Council, Roger Wilson, said that the issue would be looked at.
