Sugden: Passport office closure is ‘another blow’ for Coleraine

East Londonderry MLA Claire Sugden says she is ‘disappointed’ to learn that the passport in Coleraine is set to close under proposals announced by HM Passport Office.

She told The Times: “Coleraine is the only Northern Ireland office facing closure as part of HMPO’s transformation of customer service operations.

“This is another workplace blow for Coleraine.

“People in this community have had their passport interviews conducted at the Coleraine Office since 2007.

“This will be a nervous time for staff, and for the public who will have to travel further for this service. For those who do have direct access to transport this presents another challenge, whilst for busy working families it will be an inconvenience.

“I encourage any one with concerns to contact my office.”
