It has been a few years since the Ronnie Greer Blues Band graced the stage at Flowerfield Arts Centre, but the good news is they’re back on Friday October 11 as special guests of Coleraine Borough Arts Committee.

In what looks like being a memorable night, the band are playing a fundraising show for the arts committee in the auditorium, with tickets (all priced at £15) limited to 100 and the auditorium seated cabaret-style.

Patrons are invited to bring their own bottle. Glasses and corkscrews will be supplied.

One of the justifiable legends of the Northern Ireland music scene, Ronnie Greer is also ne of its favourite performers. A superb blues and jazz guitarist, his fingers have added passion and fire to some of the greatest blues bands in the country, including for a time the legendary Jim Daly Blues Band and a host of others.

Ronnie never fails to wring the last drop of emotion out of a solo, while still keeping the toes tapping. As a sideman and frontman, Ronnie has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the blues business – including the likes of Dr. John, Memphis Slim, Lowell Fulson, Phil Guy, Johnny Mars and many more.

Ronnie’s current band line-up – Ronnie and Anthony Toner on guitars and vocals, with Alan Hunter on bass, Colm Fitzpatrick on drums and either John McCullough or Scott Flanigan on keyboards – is perhaps the finest line-up he’s ever had, and it has gone down a storm with audiences at recent shows that have included blues festivals and arts venues across Northern Ireland.

This special evening is planned as a new initiative for Coleraine Borough Arts Committee, to increase their support for artists and artistic activity throughout the borough. Activities on the night will include a raffle for some special prizes – to find out more about Ronnie, visit his website on www.ronniegreer.com.

Tickets for the show are priced at £15, and they’re available from reception at Flowerfield – you can also pay by phone using your debit or credit card on (028) 7083 1400.
