She has a heart of gold and does amazing work for the community. And now she has been given huge recognition by Times readers
This week Maggie Dimsdale Bobby expressed her delight at being named The Coleraine Times/Ballymoney Times Person To Be Proud of.
“I’m very pleased that so many people voted for me and I want to thank them”, said Maggie.
“A lot of people had been asking how I got on so it’s lovely to have won it.”
The annual competition, sponsored by firmus energy, asked readers to nominate those who go that extra mile for the community.
And Maggie was the clear winner in our competition which included the shortlisted Davy Boyle, Coleraine’s Caring Caretaker and Ballymoney man James Walker.
We asked readers to text for their favourite and hundreds did so.
Maggie runs Causeway Coast Dog Rescue a local charity in Coleraine, and she was nominated by Jolene and also Rebecca White. They said: “Maggie has been rescuing and rehoming dogs for over 30 years now put her charity has been going for 10 years.
“Maggie is one of the most kind hearted people and has helped countless people in our community. She is truly an amazing woman and deserves this award.”
Times editor, David Rankin, presented the trophy to Maggie at the newspaper office on Friday.
He said: “Maggie is a very well deserved winner of our award.
“She never seeks recognition for the outstanding work that she does for the rehoming of dogs in our area.
“However our readers have done just that by voting for her and we all congratulate Maggie for her sterling contribution to life in the borough.
“Our competition seeks to reward people who selflessly work for our community.
“And Maggie works tirelessly for Causeway Coast Dog Rescue , performing a much needed service.
“Well done to her and all the nominees and thanks to everyone who voted.”
