The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Michelle Knight McQuillan was left with goose bumps after a performance by the Coleraine Grammar School Chamber Choir at Cloonavin on Friday.
Cllr Knight McQuillan invited the choir and their teachers to a special reception to recognise the achievements of the talented teenagers, as they prepare for their forthcoming performance at the world famous Carnegie Hall in New York.
In January, the 19 singers will by part of a 200 strong choir on stage at the world famous venue.
Last year, the girls reached the final of the BBC Radio Ulster School Choir of the Year and were then invited to participate in the Carnegie Hall premiere performance of Karl Jenkins’ Songs of Sanctuary.
Later this week, the choir will sing at a special fundraiser in the Diamond Hall at Ulster University Coleraine.
Tickets are still available for the fund raising Gala Variety Concert will take place this Friday, October 30.
The evening will be hosted by Sarah Travers and will feature Kaz Hawkins, The Linley Hamilton Trio, Clive and Adrian Culbertson with Rod McVey, and The Rhythm Rascals.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.eventbrite.co.uk or from the school.
Meet the members of the choir in a special feature in this week’s Coleraine Times.
