A businesswoman from Portstewart who turned her life around with help from The Prince’s Trust, will have her work on display at the youth charity’s new London shop, opened by its Founder and President, HRH The Prince of Wales.

Catherine Keenan, 30, founder of glass jewellery and sculptures business ‘‘Catherine Keenan Glass, is one of a number of Prince’s Trust-supported entrepreneurs who will have their products stocked at ‘Tomorrow’s Store’, located in the capital’s Liverpool Street area.

Catherine wanted to pursue a career in the creative glass trade and worked tirelessly to gain experience in various glass studios, creating jewellery and sculptures. She desperately wanted to have her own business and make her passion her career, but the equipment and space needed was very specialist and expensive.

Feeling overwhelmed and lost, she started to look into other options, and came across The Prince’s Trust and applied to the Enterprise programme where she received guidance and inspiration from her business mentor and was awarded funding.

With the financial support, she was able to test the market to see just how well her products would do, create brochures, and showcase her products at UK craft exhibits. Now Catherine’s jewellery and sculptures are stocked in shops around the UK, and her work has appeared in national magazines and the Contemporary Applied Arts Gallery. Catherine said: “It was great to receive support from The Trust and exceed my own expectations of what I could achieve.”
