News of the sale broke earlier this week, and it has been welcomed by SDLP councillor Roisin Loftus.

She said, “We suffered a double blow in the community when it was announced that the Four Seasons home was shutting.

“It was a large part of our community, and the news affected many families and individuals who worked there.

“Therefore the announcement that it has now been taken over by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland is very welcome.

“It intends carrying out a £1.5m refurbishment to redevelop the building, with the intention of increasing care for older people.”
