New Coleraine DUP councillor Trevor Clarke says the residents of Millburn deserve a decent pathway under the railway.

His comments came after he recieved calls from residents in the Millburn area about the poor state of repair of the underpass.

After viewing the state of the area, the Coleraine East representsative organised for pot holes to be filled in by Coleraine Borough Council.

Councillor Clarke said: “This is a popular walkway between the estate and the shops on Millburn Road and it was quite frankly in a terrible condition.

“It is a right of way and as such, no-one appears to assume responsibility for its upkeep and maintenance.

“Thankfully, my request to Coleraine Borough Council has resulted in the pot-holes being filled in, but what I intend to do now is follow-up on the ownership of this right of way to establish whose responsibility it is to keep the right of way in good over for pedestrians.

“I intend to find out who has responsibility -is it the DoE, the NIHE, the council, or a combination?

“No matter, the residents of Millburn deserve a decent pathway under the railway and I hope to find a solution that will benefit those who use it”, said Councillor Clarke.
