Dominican pupils are currently helping with the Coleraine Lions Sight Appeal. One of the upper sixth pupils co-ordinating the appeal, Marcus McAuley, said: “As Dominican pupils, all the help we can offer those in the developing world is vital, and we are delighted to be able to contribute help in this small way”.

Another senior pupil, Megan McAleese, said classmates were delighted to respond to the call from the Lions Club to donate those old, unused glasses. These would then be recycled to provide aid for people in less well off countries who need glasses. The public can also help by donating old spectacles to local opticians and collection boxes set up within many local shops. Visit www. lionsclubs.org
