GAA club boosted by energy partnership

John Mitchel's GAC in Glenullin has announced an exciting partnership with Brockaghboy Wind Farm which will see a long-term legacy of investment in the club from the project funders, Belfast-based TCI Renewables and Italian energy company, ERG Renew '“ a partnership kicked off with an initial £60,000 sponsorship deal.

The initiative comes following the development of a large scale wind farm above the village of Glenullin, which will see the £50+ million project generate enough sustainable electricity generation to power 27,000 homes per year over its 25 year lifetime, the equivalent of Coleraine, Kilrea and Garvagh combined.

The partnership was launched at a “Big Breakfast” event run by the club, with the presentation of a new club shirt, sponsored by TCI Renewables.

The event was attended by over 350 people, and celebrated the achievements of the club in the past year, including the Senior Team winning the Ulster League Title as well as the various underage achievements at the Blitz tournaments across Ulster.

Speaking at the Big Breakfast, Club Chairman, Basil Rafferty said: “We are pleased to announce TCI Renewables’ partnership with the club, a relationship which began back in 2006 during the community engagement phase of the project – the proposed environmental and community funding benefits of which won the hearts and minds of the Glenullin community.

“I would like to thank the former committee for embracing the opportunity to work with TCI Renewables on this exciting project. The sponsorship from TCI Renewables will help the club develop and grow, and we are excited at the future possibilities which the new income stream will unlock.”
