PCSP invest £28k to make kids risk aware

The money has funded visits to RADAR (Risk Avoidance Danger Awareness Resource), a new innovative centre in Belfast, which exposes young people to a wide spectrum of dangers and risks which they could face.

Secondary schools were also funded by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Good Relations Department to participate in an exercise on preventing anti-sectarian behaviour amongst young people. By utilising the centre’s full-size Translink bus – a resource which is complemented by amenities including a driving simulator, mock police station and prison cell – the pupils were challenged on their preconceptions of society. George Dougherty, from Dunluce School in Bushmills, said: “A brilliant workshop which really challenged the pupils’ perception of what is safe and what is not. Our pupils really enjoyed the interactivity of trying on the beer goggles, and experiencing the lack of self-control.”
