Support to continue for ADHD sufferers

Kaye Cormack, Manager of Phoenix ADHD, which has been providing services for children with ADHD and their families since 2008 explained: “We are awaiting the outcome of some funding applications, but hope to be able to continue to offer some level of support dependent on funding acquired.”

There was disappointment earlier this year, when the local project, the only one offering such specialist services in Northern Ireland outside Greater Belfast, faced closure, after funding was withdrawn.

However, Kaye told The Times this week: “This new suppport support will include the development of services for adults with ADHD as many of the young people who have attended Phoenix are now young adults who continue to require support.”

Both charities attended the Long Room at Stormont to raise Awareness of ADHD. Emma Weaver, Co-Founder of Adult ADHD NI added: “The aim of these events are to create awareness of Adult ADHD and to collaborate with other organisations to work together to provide sufficient support to those affected.”
