COLERAINE Football Club have suspended midfielder Tony Shields.
The player has also been placed on the transfer list after his no-show for last Saturday's home game against Institute.

Following a Management Committee meeting by the powers that be at The Showgrounds this week, they decided that this was the only option they were left with.

The tough tackling midfielder, who scored a last gasp equaliser against Ballymena United last month, failed to show up for Saturday's Premiership clash forcing David Platt to alter his team plans at the 11th hour.

Kyle McVey was drafted into the starting line up as the Bannsiders secured a 2-1 win over their North West rivals.
Platt refused to be drawn on the issue after the game, but privately he was said to be angered by Shields behaviour.

The player now seems likely to leave the club once the transfer window re-opens in January after only five months with the Bannsiders.
Shields imminent departure should open the door for teenager David McClements to Join the club.

The former Sheffield Wednesday apprentice has impressed in training over the last week and should sign for Coleraine once his registration has been sorted.
