LOCAL fitness expert Aaron Wright is revelling in his performance at the recent Miami Pro Fitness Model competition, which was held in St Alban’s, England at the start of April.
Aaron was delighted to finish in the medal positions in a field of over 140 competitors, both male and female, from over 20 different countries making it the biggest event of its kind to date in the UK.
With the judging panel made up of top male and female athletes Aaron knew it was going to be a competition were only the best would be picked out. The competition was split into two parts - the swimwear round and the fitness themed round.
Aaron shone in both rounds. He produced and unforgettable ‘Batman’ themed fitness round which consisted of physique display, clapping press ups on the move, cartwheels and splits. This not only wowed the crowd and his fellow competitors, who praised him for the routine, but more importantly the judges. Aaron secured a top five finish in the over 75kg section after the judges placed him in fourth place out of 32 competitors.
It’s a fantastic achievement for him after he only started competing just five months ago. Since then he has secured a first two seconds and this fourth place along with a number of fitness model assignments from England which he is now hoping to pursue.
“It’s mind blowing but very fulfilling,” Aaron told Times Sport. “I love the industry and the people I’m meeting.
“I am fortunate now that I’m going to be working with pros, attending various exhibitions and more competitions.
“I will also be a sponsored athlete very soon and hopefully through more hard work and competing I will gain my pro card which would be absolutely awesome!”
Aaron is currently preparing for the Miami Pro European event, which will be held in London at the start of June before competing on home soil a week later at the NIFMA Fitness Model event in Belfast.
With a further two events planned in England before his 35th birthday in September it’s certainly shaping up to be a busy summer for him.
“I would like to thank my dear parents and all my close family and friends, supporters and everyone who has helped me and stood by me, my appreciation goes to you all,” he said. “I don’t want to sound corny, but if I can do it so can you!”
