ATHLETICS: University Duathlon on St Patrick's Day

THE University of Ulster is hosting the first St Patrick's Day Duathlon.

The fun event, open to all abilities, event involves a two mile run, followed by a 10 mile mountain bike ride, and finishes with another two

mile run, all at the Glenshane Forest in County Derry.

As well as individual competitors, teams of one runner and one cyclist can also take part, at the inaugural competition with gets underway at 12 noon, with registration for the event at the Ponderosa Pub on the Glenshane Pass, two miles before Dungiven.

Anne Paul Sports Centre Manager at Ulster's Coleraine campus, said: "This is the first off a series of events organised by the University, with further sporting activities taking place at the Coleraine campus over the next few weeks. It shows the University's close links with athletics, cycling and triathlon, and how committed we are to developing the sport.

"This event on 17 March shows that people can celebrate St Patrick's Day in a positive manner, through sport and having fun in the country

side."

Cycling helmets are compulsory for the competition with entry fee at 5. The proceeds of the event will be given to charity. Spot prize competition will take place in the Ponderosa Pub afterwards. For further details on this event and upcoming athletic, cycling and
