Council’s Sport Development and Recreation Team has lined up a full programme of football and multi-sports coaching camps, which will help kids to burn off all those Easter eggs and keep fit!

New to this year’s programme will be the introduction of a ‘Girls Allowed’ Fun Activity Camp! This camp has been specifically designed for girls aged four to eight years old and is the result of feedback received from parents and guardians over the years. So here it is, the first girls Easter camp where participants will take part in games, dance routines (including break dance & modern dance) and various recreation and sporting activities, all in the spirit of fun, friendship & high energy!

This various camps will take place from Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th April and will include a free transport collection schedule, supporting kids to attend. A leaflet is available with timings and information.

The multi-sports camps are for boys and girls aged seven to fourteen years-old, providing a choice of three sports per day. These include sportshall athletics, rugby, Gaelic football, hockey and Olympic team handball among many more.

Roger Downey, Sports Development and Recreation Manager at Coleraine Borough Council, has developed this exciting programme. Roger said “This year Council is providing the most complete programme ever developed for the Easter break.

“Recent parental feedback and the success of our Just Dance Club has highlighted the need for a camp tailor made for younger girls and I believe we have come up with the perfect mix of sport and activities in the ‘Girls Allowed’ camp. The ever popular football camp is also back again as we continue our skill enhancement, small sided games and match practice for all boys and girls who love football”.

“The multi-sports camps are extremely popular each year as it gives young people the opportunity to try a new sport. These camps not only offer a great chance for children to make new friends and have lots of fun but also to improve their physical skills and techniques.

“All of Council’s coaching sessions are led by qualified and vetted coaches with the necessary equipment provided; however children will need to bring suitable clothing and footwear. In particular, a rainproof jacket and hat are important for outdoor activities and a towel with a change of clothes.”

The venues for the multi-sports camps are as follows: sports hall athletics, badminton and Olympic Team Handball are hosted in Coleraine Leisure Centre; hockey, cricket and Gaelic football are at Rugby Avenue Playing Fields, Coleraine; tennis is at Anderson Park, Coleraine; rugby is at Coleraine Rugby Club and basketball is at Loreto College, Coleraine.
