FOOTBALL: Coleraine Reserves hit for six

COLERAINE Reserves felt the full force of their Crusaders counterparts on Saturday as they fell to a 6-0 defeat at Seaview.

Drew Coyles' side found themselves two down after only 20 minutes and went in at the break having conceded two more.

Sam Boylan and Stuart Millar went close to reducing the deficit after the break, but the rampant home side added another two goals to complete the rout.

Coach Paul Gaston admitted they had been second best on the day, but he told Times Sport it was a good learning curve for the yound side.

"I can't praise Crusaders enough," he said.

"They played some great football and fully deserved to win the game.

"But it's all a learning curve for the lads.

"We had a very young side on Saturday and many of them were playing on the surface up there for the first time.

"We told them that it was important to take the game to Crusaders in the first 20 minutes and try and keep things tight.

"Unfortunately we found ourself 2-0 down by that stage.

"But as I said this is a pointer for where we want to be. We know it's going to take time but we have to learn from days like Saturday."

Meanwhile in last night's tie with Linfield Swifts, Coleraine Reserves were beat 5-0

They will meet Moyola in the NW Junior Cup this Saturday, the game has a 3pm start.
