Another striker could be on the way

Coleraine boss Oran Kearney is hoping to further bolster his squad this week with the addition of a couple of new faces.

Kearney has been working hard to recruit new players since the departure of David McDaid to Cliftonville.

It was confirmed on Friday that Mark Miskimmin had agreed a deal to join the Bannsiders from Glentoran, and Michael Doherty is as close to rejoining the club with only the formalities of registration to be tied up at the start of the week.

However, Times Sport understands another striker should put pen to paper at The Showgrounds this week.

Kearney though refused to be drawn on names before any deal is confirmed.

“It’s a big week with two important games and we are also hoping to tie up a couple of transfer deals too,” he said.

“The deal for Mark Miskimmin is done, but he won’t be available for the League Cup game on Monday night because it’s a Bank Holiday weekend.

“He will come into the panel for the game at home to Portadown this Friday night. We will be getting Michael Doherty’s registration on Monday night so that deal will be completed too.

“Ideally we are still hopeful of another couple of deals after that. Deals are progressing but there’s one or two loose ends to be tied up.

“We are looking at the odd one in on loan with the thought of bringing him here on loan and persuading him to stay long term.

“So we are looking at a couple of loans probably up until Christmas.”
