Bannsiders fired up for Mallards visit

Howard Beverland says any disappointments from last season will be used as motivation for the new campaign, which gets underway this Saturday.

The Bannsiders suffered a mid-season slump last time out, but the skipper told Times Sport that will only serve as fuel to the fire this term.

“As much as last season is gone and done with and something we would like to forget, there is no doubt that arched in the back of out minds will be the determination to put right the disappointment,” said Beverland.

“Our failures and disappointments of last season, and what we have learned from it, I feel, will springboard us to better and bigger things this year. Every sports person even the best goes through disappointment and moments where performance isn’t what it should be and we are no different we are human too.

“We know we need to get back to the ethos of hardwork and pressing the ball better we know that after that we have the quality to match the best.

“The mood in the camp is positive ahead of the new season. There is great morale and team togetherness. There have been a few new additions with some of the younger players coming through alongside some players moving on.

“This has created a greater balance to the team which perhaps wasn’t there last season. Pre season has been of great quality and standard and has been certainly stepped up a level from my time at the club and the boys have bought into

“We have built up momentum nicely and are ready to get out there and get off to a winning start.”
