Former Coleraine defender Aaron Canning, who was sacked by the club for exposing himself to a woman, is set for a return to the game.
Last September, Canning, 23, was sentenced to 18 months probation, given a seven-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order and will now have to disclose his sex offender conviction to any woman with whom he starts a casual or intimate relationship.
But three months on the defender is now back in at the game at Championship Two side Coagh United.
In a statement released on Wednesday night, the club said: “Coagh United FC are aware of what has happened and we acknowledge that this is a sensitive issue, especially for the victim.
“The club recognises the seriousness of the matter and in no way condone his behaviour, but believe that Aaron, like everyone else, deserves a second chance.
“Aaron has accepted full responsibility for his actions and we are willing to provide him with the opportunity to move on, and play football again.
“We have met with Aaron and we are satisfied that this matter will have no impact on his time at our club.”
The entire Coagh squad is due to be told of the move at training on Thursday night and the player is set to take part in matches in the coming weeks.
