Coleraine FC issue statement on Canning

The limavady man has been ordered to comply with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, after appearing at North Antrim Magistrates’ Court sitting in Coleraine last Friday.

The statement released on the club website today (Friday) said: “Coleraine Football Club are fully aware of the situation of Aaron Canning in relation last week’s court judgement.

“As a club there is no way we can condone behaviour like this.

“At present we are working with the player, his family and legal representatives to deal with the matter internally, via the club’s disciplinary procedure

“The club recognises this is a very serious issue and is mindful of the sensitivities involved, particularly those of the victim.

“There will be no further statements issued at this time.”
