Dervock crowned league champions as Ballybogey win Chronicle Cup

Dervock FC were finally crowned Coleraine and District Morning League champions on Saturday.

They ran out 2-1 winners over Dunaghy to seal the title in front of a large crowd at Paddy’s Park.

Sammy McConaghie put the hosts in front before Jock Wade levelled things up for the visitors.

Ryan Boyd though made sure of the win and the title as he broke clear to score the winner.

It set off wild scenes of celebration in Dervock.

They are now preparing to take on Magherafelt Sky Blues Reserves in the Steele and Sons Shield final at Mullaghacall this Saturday, May 28th. Kick off is 2pm.

Dervock will be out to make it a double trophy success and finish the season in style tah’s for sure!

Meanwhile, Ballybogey came out on top against Glebe Rangers Reserves in the Chronicle Cup final at Coleraine Showgrounds last Friday night.

Bogey, who had been pushing for another Morning League title, came out on top against their counterparts from the Toon.

Danny Hickinson’s side won 3-1 in the end.

Portrush won the Constitution Cup as they beat Maghera Strollers in the final, which was also played at the Showgrounds.

And Kilrea United made it back to back league titles as they won the Afternoon League for the second successive season.

“Thank You to everyone involved, management, players, supporters and committee members,” a club spokseperson said.

Meanwhile, Coleraine side Heights FC suffered disappointment in their bid to win a first North West Junior Cup final at Limavady Showgrounds on Friday night.

The Coleraine side battled hard but went down 5-2 to Ardmore in the end.
