The Coleraine & District League kicked off in midweek with games in both the Morning and Afternoon Leagues.

Champions Dervock kicked off their defence of the Morning League title with a 2-0 win over Portrush Reserves thanks to goals from Patton and Patrick.

Bushmills United set down a big marker as they ran out 5-2 winners over Ballybogey.

McDowell (2), McClements (2) and Kane all scored with Elder and Doherty replying for ‘Bogey.

Elsewhere Wilson and Kernohan were on target for the Heights Reserves as they beat Portstewart UUC 2-1.

Ballycastle also picked up a winning coming out on top in a five-goal thriller with Macosquin. And Ballymoney United Reserves took the honours against Toon rivals Glebe Rangers Reserves.

McVicker (2) and Mark Gillan scoring for the home side with Chris Mawhinney netting a brace for the Glebe.

There was some big scoring in the Afternoon League also.

Kilrea United came out on top against Riada thanks to goals from Deighan and Coyle with Mullaghan scoring for the visitors.

Garvagh and Coleraine Crusaders shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw. Patterson and C Dempsey (2) scored for the home side with R Campbell, Sheppard and Kennedy scoring for the Crues.

Dunaghy’s return to afternoon football also ended in a 3-3 draw with Aghadowey.

Carey, Magill and McCrellis were on target for Dunaghy with the visitors replying through Millar and two own goals.

Portrush also kicked off with a win as Neill and Tanahill fired in the goals to see off Ringsend.

Maghera Strollers were the night’s biggest scorers as they hit seven to beat Magherafelt Reds. A hat-trick from Harrigan, O’Donnell (2) and further goals from C McGuckin and Merron completed the rout.

Magherafelt Sky Blues also picked up a win thanks to goals from Maguire and Bell as they beat Maghera United 2-0.
