The Bannsiders 1-0 defeat at Cliftonville last Saturday brought a five game unbeaten run to an end.

But Kearney is determined to see his players put that result behind them and get back to winning ways again.

“We’ll go again and we won’t mull too long over the Cliftonville result,” he said.

“It’s up to us now to regroup and set out to get three points on Saturday.

“The most important thing for us is to get back to winning ways again.

“I said to the lads that as disappointed as we are to lose the game at Cliftonville they are honest lads and they put in a real shift and worked hard.

“There will be other weeks when we play like that and those chances will all hit the back of the net and we’ll win three or four.

“That’s the wee part which let us down at Solitude, but they key ingredients we look for every week is the hunger, the desire and the work rate.

“To be fair we are getting that, we got it last Saturday in abundance.”

Kearney’s men didn’t have the best of time against Glenavon last season.

They lost all four games against the Lurgan Blues and failed to find the net on each occasion.

The Bannsiders boss though doesn’t believe in dwelling on what’s passed and is only focusing on what happens this coming season.

“We are not concerned with what has happened in previous games with Glenavon, it’s all about taking the three points which are on offer,” he said.

“We have had different records against different teams, but it all comes down to the day.

“As I said 90% of the ingredients were all there against Cliftonville, but we’re all judged on the goals and the final score, and that’s the thing we have to work on...making sure we hit the net against Glenavon.”
