CFC Academy Young Ladies

On the eve of International Women’s Day, the young ladies in red and black once again demonstrated that they are one of the most hard working and talented teams in the North West and Coleraine District Youth League. The girls came up against new opposition in the Sky Blue Colts from Magherafelt at Ballysally on Saturday.

This game was a quick sequel for the young ladies following on from their earlier encounter with the Sky Blue Colts from Magherafelt.

The 2005 squad started the game in a strong attacking mode. Both teams were playing the game in a proper spirit of sporting friendship as they went goal-for-goal with each other.

The Academy team had an early start at Ballysally on Saturday morning against local rivals Bertie Peacocks. The young Bannsiders took the lead when Jacob turned on a sixpence and with expert technique, curled the ball into the corner leaving the keeper with no chance. In the second half Berties

regained the upper hand, and capitalized on a number of chances. The Academy side kept battling against their physically stronger opponents and created chances of their own.

The 2006 Olympic side competed in a three way round-robin with Ballymoney Minis and Portrush Colts. In both matches, Olympic held their own and created lots of chances, with Sean scoring an impressive solo goal, while Sam proved a handful for the opposition defenders with his direct running.
