It’s the big kick off for Coleraine FC Academy’s Spring Soccer School

The Coleraine FC Academy Soccer School will commence on this Saturday, March 14 at the University of Ulster grass pitches.

All new players of primary school age will be made most welcome, simply come along on the day for a free one week trial. The Soccer School are keen to attract players born in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to join our already established squads.

The registration fee for new players will be £30 and includes a free CFCA 1/4 zip sweatshirt. All players must wear football boots, shin guards and have access to a water bottle along with appropriate sports clothing for the weather conditions. For further details contact Stephen on 07725747049.

On the eve of International Women’s Day, the young ladies in red and black once again demonstrated that they are one of the most hard working and talented teams in the North West and Coleraine District Youth League. The girls came up against new opposition in the Sky Blue Colts from Magherafelt at Ballysally on Saturday.

CFC Young Ladies v CFC Academy Select U10’s

This game was a quick sequel for the young ladies following on from their earlier encounter with the Sky Blue Colts from Magherafelt.

The 2005 squad started the game in a strong attacking mode. Both teams were playing the game in a proper spirit of sporting friendship as they went goal-for-goal with each other.

U9 Academy/Olympic Teams

The Academy team had an early start at Ballysally on Saturday morning against local rivals Bertie Peacocks. The young Bannsiders took the lead when Jacob turned on a sixpence and with expert technique, curled the ball into the corner leaving the keeper with no chance. In the second half Berties

regained the upper hand, and capitalized on a number of chances. The Academy side kept battling against their physically stronger opponents and created chances of their own.

The 2006 Olympic side competed in a three way round-robin with Ballymoney Minis and Portrush Colts. In both matches, Olympic held their own and created lots of chances, with Sean scoring an impressive solo goal, while Sam proved a handful for the opposition defenders with his direct running. Coleraine were put up against a good physical side in Dungiven Celtic and the game did not disappoint. Depsite Coleraine’s dominance, Dungiven grabbed the opener just before the break. Coleraine equalised through Alfy Matthews. Aaron Campbell added a second before Matthew Johnston grabbed the third.

Dungiven scored with the last kick of the game to make final score 3-2.

Coleraine Olympic played a three way blitz with Roe Valley Colts and Magherafelt Sky Blue Colts at Ballysally. The first against Roe Valley was a tight game with one goal being scored by Jake Books assisted by Toby McKeary. The second game against Magherafelt Sky Blues was a goal fest. Another clean sheet for Coleraine Olympic and six goals. Two for Isaac Moon assisted by Josh Barr in the 1st Half, a second half hat trick for Josh Barr and a first goal of the season for Corey O’Kane wrapped it up.
