Stevie Lowry met with Linfield last night (Monday) after the club reluctantly agreed a fee with the Blues last week.
Oran Kearney is now waiting to hear whether the midfielder wants to complete the deal or remain at The Showgrounds.
“Stevie is having a medical and discussing terms but he knows he can stay here if he wants,” said Kearney on Monday. “I have replacements in mind but I won’t be doing anything until I hear from Stevie.”
One player not going to Windsor Park though is Howard Beverland as Kearney revealed the clubs were ‘poles apart’ in their valuation.
However, Times Sport understands another Showgrounds defender could be on his way to Linfield. Kyle McVey was released by Coleraine last week and rumours suggest he is being tracked by the Blues. Kearney had offered him a one-year deal two weeks ago, which included a testimonial. But he stalled on the offer and entered into negotiations with an unnamed club without consulting or informing the Bannsiders.
Kearney said: “I’m disappointed with how the situation has developed and as a result I have withdrawn the offer of a contract and testimonial.”
