ICE SKATING: Fin-tastIc Jenna

COLERAINE skater Jenna McCorkell turned in another great performance at the Finlandia Trophy in Finland.

Competing against some of the world's top skaters, Jenna increased her overall score by almost ten points from her previous international in Obersdorf, Germany, to take sixth overall.

A delighted Jenna said afterwards: "Everything went well. I had my best technical performance in years. I had a great free skate and I completed five triple jumps and two double axles. It's been a great start to the season for me adding to a top five finish in Obersdorf. That gave me a lot of confidence for Finlandia, where some of the world's top skaters competed.

"I was up against the current European silver and bronze medallists and a former European silver medallist, and, the competition was won by one of Japan's top skaters.

"I am very happy with the result and I feel that I am progressing more and more at competitions. I hope to continue the season and skate the best I can."

Jenna added: "I am training hard and look forward to my next event, Skate Canada Grand Prix. It's an invitation event where only 12 ladies are selected to skate. I'm really excited about it as I love to skate in Canada. It's a great atmosphere."
