ICE SKATING: Jenna's joy at personal best in Russia
JENNA McCorkell is just getting better and better - and in Russia last Saturday she has skated her best ever free programme score of 93.76.
And not only that but the Coleraine star beat some of the world's best by finishing in third place just behind Japan's Miki Ando and Ashley Wagner from the United States.
Overall Jenna moved up from 11th place to eighth overall but it was her performance in the free programme that had everyone talking.
Her PR representative, Karin McBride, told Times Sport: "This is only Jenna's second time out this season with her programmes. In the short she missed an important combination but her free programme was the best of her career and her marks prove this.
"She beat former world champion Mao Asada in the technical element score and in fact was only five points behind her overall.
"Jenna ended up sixth in the free and moved up an incredible four places overall to eighth place in a world class field - brilliant!
"What one must remember that Jenna was the second in the free as far as European women go with only Elena Leonova and Julia Sebastyn ahead of her. It's all very encouraging."
Jenna's next stop will be Skate Canada in November, and then she will be going for a record seventh British Senior title.
But her performance in Russia proves that the Coleraine woman has got what it takes to compete and beat the best in the world.
Jenna's husband, Kevin Van der Perren, came fifth in the men's event.
