A recent visit to Belfast by kids’ collectibles company Topps proved a phenomenal success, with hundreds of football fans, sticker fans and trading card collectors pitching up to attend the 2014 Swap and Play Tour.

Kids and their families from all over the region came to the free football-themed event at Smyth’s Toys to enjoy a range of fun-filled activities and get their hands on the last few Match Attax football trading cards and Premier League Stickers they needed to complete their collections.

However, for Matthew Dunbar from Coleraine (pictured), the day was made even more exciting, with the eight-year-old being crowned the regional finalist of the 2014 Match Attax World Championships.

Matthew has secured a highly-coveted place in the Grand Final, where he will play out this stat-based trading card game of skill against other regional winners in front of a crowd of over 40,000 people at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea FC in London.

Matthew comments: “I’m really pleased I’m the Match Attax World Championship regional finalist for Belfast - I love the game and play it almost every day.

It was great to meet other Match Attax players too and I’m really excited about the final!”

Rod Pearson from Topps adds: “It was great to see so many people at the event; thank you to everyone who came along and joined us.

“The day proved to be a real highlight for Matthew and we wish him all the best in the 2014 Match Attax World Championships final – it promises to be a great contest!

The young lad is now in full trading-card-training ahead of taking on fellow Match Attax regional finalists later on in the year.
