The August Competition was held recently at Dunalis Reservoir and was fished in breezy but warm conditions.

The overall winner was Barney McClean who caught 20 trout, three fish ahead of Garry Stewart in second place.

Colin Love took the biggest fish in the senior competition with one of 48cm. Junior winner was Harry Simpson with five trout and he had the biggest by a junior - 56cm.

There appear to be plenty of trout in the reservoir so fishing should be good for the remainder of the season.

Small dry flies are working very well with some anglers having great sport late in the evening.

Some discarded nylon has been found at Dunalis. All members are requested to avoid leaving any nylon behind as it can be a danger to birds and other wild life.

Take it home with you or cut it into short lengths and deposit it in the rubbish bin at the car park.

Rectory Lodge Trout Fishery

The fishery has been good this week with some big catches on the fly lake. All methods have worked well this week with the water being a lot cooler and the fish are taking well. Buzzers and black lures were best flies fished on a floating line.

Best catched this week: Billy Hayes 29, JC 29, Sean Foy 27, H Cooke 26, H Murphy 24 and N McNally 20.

There will be a ‘Bring and Buy’ sale on Saturday 21st September and everyone is welcome.
