BOWLS: Ports win Senior crown

PORTRUSH are the NIPBA Progressive Senior League champions for 2012.

The Seasiders wrapped up the title in style last Saturday with a 28-shot win away at Coleraine.

The visitors won on all four rinks to pick up the seven points and seal the title win.

Jackie Smyth beat Basil Kennedy by six points, Gary McCloy won by 13 over David Reilly, Simon Colvin won by three shots and Ian McClure got the title party started with a six shot win over Victor Dallas.

The result means Coleraine have to settle for fifth place finish.

Dunluce finish as runners-up as they too picked up all seven points with a thumping win at Ballycastle.

Ballymoney can still pip Cookstown to third if they pick up all seven points in the final fixture.

Cookstown rounded off their season with a 20-shot win over Limavady.
