Desi Scott did Ballymoney Powerlifting Club proud once again when he won the British Equipped title for the sixth successive year.

Each competitor gets three attempts in each discipline (squat, bench press and dead lift), and Desi comfortably scored a perfect nine out of nine.

Desi has been selected to compete for the British team at the forthcoming World Championships in Estonia and the European Championships in the Czech Republic.

Desi does his conditioning work at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre and trains at Gerry’s Gym in Coleraine, where he is coached by Gerry McLaughlin.

“I am delighted to win this title again and looking forward to competing in Estonia and the Czech Republic,” said Dessie who competes in the 74Kg class.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their help in getting me to another title, it is greatly appreciated.”

Dessie holds all the Classic and Equipped Northern Ireland records and several British and Commonwealth records.

He has also refereed at a number of high profile events including the World Masters Bench Press Championships.

There’s no doubt there will be more success to come.
