Ever considered trying a ‘tri’?

Triangle Triathlon Club was established on the North Coast over twenty five years ago, and in recent years the sport of triathlon has gone from strength to strength with athletes of all ages and abilities trying a ‘tri’.

Triathlon takes on many forms from super sprint, to sprint, to Olympic, to half – ironman, and for the very hungry, there is the ultimate in triathlon, that is, ironman. The most common distances are sprint and olympic, and the Triangle Triathlon Club offers local athletes, and budding triathletes, the opportunity to do all distances.

The first event takes place in Limavady on Saturday 11 May, when 300 brave souls will swim 750m in the pool, cycle 20K, and run 5K. Saturday 15 June sees the annual Causeway Coast Triathlon – which takes place on the most beautiful coastline in Ireland. This is an Olympic distance race, with a superb goody bag for all participants.

On Sunday 18 August we move to Groomsport for the long one – the Ireman and Half Ireman championships. Check us out at www.traingletriathlonclub.com. New members are always welcome with the Triangle Club spreading from Magherafelt, to Coleraine, to Limavady.

Hosting these races takes significant organisation and resources, and this year, the club is particularly grateful to our local sponsors Fletcher Torrens, G Devlin Motors, Iain O’Kane of Xperience Group, and North Coast Leisure. Many triathletes consider shopping the fourth discipline behind swimming, cycling and running, so check out the wares at North Coast Leisure 220 Ballybogey Rd, Portrush.
