GRAEME McDowell hit out after being put under the clock as time ran out on his Open chances.

“There’s a difference between slow play and bad play,” said McDowell.

“We got off to a slow start, we were cutting it very close but then on the fifth tee they told us we were four-and-a-half-minutes out of position and we were going to be put on the clock.

“We’d run if they wanted us to but this is a tough course. Being put on the clock after five holes is a bit out of order. It was upsetting, puts you off.”
