Coleraine bodybuilder Lesley Ann Armstrong is off to Las Vegas!

The 30-year-old will be travelling to Vegas on August 15 to compete in the prestigious World Beauty Fitness and Fashion Show.

The WBFF are the fastest growing fitness and beauty organization in the industry when the best of the best pros and amateurs from across the world will converge on the stage for unprecedented glamour and excitement.

Lesley Ann, a fully trained physiotherapist is a former Miss Northern Ireland and Miss World.

Having decided that she would give up on competitions just last year, the former Coleraine High School pupil changed her mind and decided to compete in the US competition, just eight weeks ago.

She’s now in full show prep mode training twice a day, six days a week and eating a very strict diet.

“I had made my mind up not to compete again,” admitted Lesley Ann, who is a personal trainer at Xtreme Fitness in Londonderry.

“I felt I was wasting my time competing here and I wasn’t progressing.

“I then saw the competition in Vegas and I thought I had to give it a shot.”

Lesley Ann will be competing in the figure category in the amateur section on August 15.

She hopes that if she is successful she will be given a pro card to compete in the professional competition the next day.

A bodybuilder for the past five years Lesley Ann endures a tough schedule to keep herself in shape.

Whilst many of us are rolling over in bed, this Coleraine woman is hard at work in the gym!

She wakes at 3.30 a.m. each morning to do her cardio workouts before starting work as a personal trainer at 5 a.m..

Add to that a strict diet of low carbohydrates and protein, mainly fish and chicken, and it’s clear to see how much discipline this Coleraine woman has.

“I was someone who always like going to the gym,” she said.

“So to be honest the training part of it is okay. And, I am not someone who eats a lot of junk, so the diet part comes quite easy to me. I am quite a determined person, when I put my mind to something there is no stopping me.”

Previously having competed in the NABBA championships, Lesley Ann is hoping to make a name for herself in the States.

“WBFF is more about beauty and fitness. It is more feminine. And that’s important. I do have a lot of muscle, but I still look very feminine.

“My aim is to promote bodybuilding for females in this country and be a role model for them.”
